Readings of the Week (3/21/11)

Week of March 21, 2011

Here’s the best of the best of cause marketing information from the last week:

Why Kellogg’s Share Your Breakfast campaign works.
Kellogg's "Share Your Breakfast" campaign invites consumers to share a photo or description of their breakfast. Each time a breakfast is "shared," Kellogg will donate money to increase school breakfast participation through Action for Healthy Kids with the goal of sharing one million breakfasts by the beginning of the 2011-12 school year. http://bit.ly/euOtfA

Hy-Vee, Procter & Gamble Donate More Than 200 SMART Boards to Local Schools.
Hy-Vee supermarkets and Procter & Gamble, in partnership with Sara Lee, have donated more than 200 SMART Board Interactive white board systems to area schools within Hy-Vee markets. The donations are the culmination of Hy-Vee's SMART Points program in which consumers earned points simply by purchasing $20 worth of Procter & Gamble products at any of more than 200 Hy-Vee stores. If they purchased $5 worth or more of Sara Lee bakery items in the same transaction then their points were doubled. These points were then donated to the school of the consumers' choice. http://mwne.ws/gYL3X9

Lowe’s Teams with MDA.
Since 2001, Lowe's stores have supported the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Shamrocks Against Dystrophy campaign, an annual initiative to battle neuromuscular diseases. Lowe’s expanded the program to our Canadian stores in 2009 through Muscular Dystrophy Canada's Buck for Luck campaign, and this year we brought the campaign to our distribution centers and corporate offices. http://bit.ly/hA54Ye

Ski Bumps. Fight Lumps!
I spotted this story in the Denver Post when I was in Colorado last week. Women ski state's areas to raise awareness, funds for breast cancer. http://ow.ly/4hWmL

“We are challenging ourselves to ski all 27 Colorado ski resorts in just 8 days. We are hitting the road and the slopes to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research and education, in partnership with the Colorado Breast Cancer Coalition.” http://www.skibumpsfightlumps.org/
